Samantha, Susan, and Bonnie were having a marvellous time playing outside with their new tricycle and wagon.  (See Part 1 here)

“Your turn now!” said Samantha to Susan. “Yippee!” exclaimed Susan.

“Watch me gooooo!” she squealed as she started to zoom off.

Then it happened…..

Is it raining? the dolls were enjoying a play day outside until.......- a 18" doll adventure by stitching with Elli

“Is it raining??” asked Samantha.

“Surely not!” said Bonnie, looking at her.

“I felt a drop!” said Samantha worriedly.

Susan gazed at the sky anxious… “It is getting darker…that is a pretty dark cloud”

Then it started raining for sure. ( here is the promised Shout out to Leanna for guessing the “disaster” correctly 😉 )

“Eek” yelled all the dolls. I’m not sure if you know this, but dolls can take a little water….but if they get soaked all the way thru they get very sick. They just feel all soggy and icky. So they try to avoid getting wet whenever possible.

“Quick run to the porch!! I’ll pull the wagon!” yelled Susan. “I’ll get the tricycle!” Samantha exclaimed.

“Hang on tight Bonnie! We are going to go fast!”

The rain drops were falling faster and covering the cement.

They raced over and got to the porch. It was really hard to get that wagon up on the porch!!!

“Samantha Help!!” cried Bonnie and Susan.

“I’m coming!!! just as soon as I get the tricycle up on the porch” said Samantha.

She hurried down (considering she was risking getting quite wet, she was quite heroic)   and pushed the wagon from behind.

“Uuumph!!” she grunted as she pushed (making noises while trying to lift or push something always helps).

“I think just one….more push. on count of three. one….two threeeeeeee!!!!!!”

“Oooph!” “oww!!” “oops!” said everyone

“Are you okay Susan??” said Samantha very concerned.

IMG_2476.JPG

“oooph! yes I’m okay just a little startled.” she replied.

“Now what?” asked Samantha trying to hide her disappointment…”we can’t play in the rain.” “We might get sick” observed Susan. “Besides Emily would be upset if we got mud on our clothes” added Bonnie.

Somewhat gloomily they all lined up and looked out at the rain.

What to do on a rainy day? - a 18" doll adventure by stitching with Elli

“When do you suppose it will stop?” asked Samantha.

“A watched storm never stops” Susan piped up helpfully. As she stretched out her hand to try to catch a rain drop.

IMG_2462.JPG

“Fortunately, because I like watching storms, I believe it is a watched pot…not a watched storm.” observed Bonnie.

“Oh that is good”. “Because I like watching them too.” said Susan and Samantha as they wandered over to sit on the top step and look out.

“Well it could be worse…it could be umm… a hurricane!” said Samantha cheerfully. They all agreed…but were starting to get a tad bored sitting there. Samantha wandered over to the railing again. The others followed.

“Look at me! I can jump off!!” cried Susan.

“Susan!! don’t be dangerous!!” cried Bonnie startled.

“Lookie! I can stand on one leg!!”

IMG_2481.JPG

“That does it…I’m finding us something better to do.” Said Bonnie emphatically. She marched off towards the door. The others looked at each other. “What do you think she means? Maybe she will make us wash dishes or something” said Susan nervously. “If she finds us some work to do it is your fault for being dangerous! You shouldn’t have acted dangerous” scolded Samantha.

After a bit, the door opened again and Bonnie came out. The other squealed excitedly because in her arms she was holding…..

Books!!!

“Yay!! yelled the others as they rushed towards her.

“My favorite! Timmy tiptoes!” said Samantha. “ooo fun, a joke book!” said Susan. Bonnie grinned…”I thought you would like that one, Susan”

They hauled the books over to the bench….

When I went by a few hours later, they were still there. Susan kept interrupting them to tell them jokes but they didn’t seem to mind. Peals of laughter kept coming from the porch. I don’t think they even noticed it had stopped raining. 🙂

I think they had a good day in spite of the rain 😉
