Stitching with Elli

Ellen is practicing making pie crusts.

“Why are we working on this now? I thought we were going to bake the pies tomorrow,” Maggie asked Ellen. “I wanted to go watch a Christmas movie with the other dolls,” she grumbled. She was giving Ellen “a look” over her glasses to express her displeasure at being drafted. “I don’t mind helping, but does it have to be now?”

“The pie crust is the hardest part about baking a pie.” Ellen explained. “So we are practicing before tomorrow so we can get it perfect! I can’t do it by myself. The rolling pin is too big. You can have half my piece of pie for helping.” Ellen coaxed. Maggie was cheered up by this news and said, “oh well, I can always watch a Christmas movie later. ”

They took a break from rolling out the crust and Maggie wandered over to investigate the flour.

“Ellen, how did you say people were supposed to enter the pie contest?”  she asked. She stared at the flour and gently poked it to see what it felt like.

Ellen was prodding the pie dough and wondering if it was too sticky or too solid.

“Emily said she would tell them to email her a picture of their pie  and then she would post all the pies together.” She replied absentmindedly.

“What is her email address?” asked Maggie…and then coughed because she got flour up her nose.

“Magnoliaharp @ gmail.com” said Ellen. Then she looked up…. “What are you doing Maggie!!! you are getting flour all over your nose!! C,ome back here and help me roll it out.”

 “Coming! I was just um…investigating to make sure the flour was good…” Maggie replied.

Well, I think we shall leave them to their baking 😉 What kind of pies do you think the dolls will make? What kind will you be making? 😀
